For this spring collection, I drew on some memories from childhood to provide my inspiration. I remember always hoping that the tulips would bloom in time for me to pick one for my Mom’s birthday in early May. They were always the first thing to bloom in our yard every spring. Lily of the Valley was another favorite early bloomer that grew behind my grandma’s house in the early springtime. At that age, I was enchanted by the book Secret Garden and would wish I could visit such a place. While reading, I would try to walk through the garden in my mind, along the paths through the flowers and watch the butterflies flutter from bloom to bloom. I wondered what prints and patterns were on the walls, the curtains, and the bedding in the manor. Over thirty five years later, these memories were key to turning my sketches and doodles into this enchanting spring collection.
